Hi, my name is Esayas Nida. I'm originally from Ethiopia, East Africa. I currently live in Charlotte, NC. Before that I lived in Reidsville, NC for about 5 years. Running has been a part of my life ever since I started walking. But, when I was in high school, after watching Ethiopian Olympic athletes, I started running for purpose--to stay healthy and maybe someday, with God's help, make it to the Olympics. I started doing 5K races, once or twice a week in addition to my daily straining. Then I advanced to 10K, half marathons, and full marathons. Eventually, I increased my training to 50-60 miles per week. I participated in many races that were held in the Triad area and in other cities like Danville, VA and Charlotte, NC. I've run more than 10 half marathons and 5 full marathons so far, including Tobacco Road Marathon, which I qualified for Boston 2020. My love for running is so powerful that it infected my brother and little sister and they too are now avid runners. I am always learning something new from the races I do and the people I meet.
I am honored to be one of the 2019 RunTheBoro Pace Guide Leaders . I am participating for the first time this year. RunTheBoro serves as a platform for the Greensboro area runners to meet each other and continue to encourage each other. I challenge every city to adopt the idea.
